Tasting Notes for 5-29

Tim Abajian of Andes Imports, a relatively new distributor to our neck of the woods, will walk us through selections from Argentina this Thursday. South America is providing some of the most earnest values available on the market today.

The Menu…

2006 Avanti Chardonnay

Unoaked Chardonnay from San Juan, Argentina offers tropical notes of pineapple backed with lemons for a pleasant aperitif before the feature reds of our tasting. Nevertheless, it’s a fun wine for entertaining and casual sipping.

2006 Durigutti Malbec 2006

The Durigutti Malbec has violet, plum and floral aromatics – providing it with a French state of mind? This would be an interesting food match, but also ready to for an evening of sipping.

2004 Don Nicanor

A terrific Bordeaux Blend that’s an even split of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot aged in French oak for 12 months. A terrific match for the grill, this blend is fruitier than its French counterpart and allows the Malbec to play a greater role, as it should in Argentina.
