Tasting Notes for March 13

This week we are pleased to welcome Garry Moore of Siema Wines who will be our guest from 4-7 tonight. Gary has been supplying us with many of your favorite staples (Baby Barbera, Ponte, Toros PG), and this week I believe he may be able to kick off your new Spring favorite.

 The Menu2006 Marianna Falanghina, $10

This 100% Falanghina heralds the arrival of our Spring gem set. This traditional white from Campania is weighty with a golden tinge and typical Italian acidity. It will be a great start before dinner or companion to your seafood.

 2006 Meinklang Pinot Noir, $15

This Austrian Pinot Noir begins with a slightly smoky, meaty nose and provides generous fruit with silky tannins in a well-balance wine. This organic, biodynamic winery offers just about everything one could want from a $15 Pinot.

2005 Fosco, Diano d’Alba, $17.50

Over the past few weeks we’ve noticed a surge of quality Dolcetto (literally: little sweet one) based wines presented to us. What better wine to show off then our old friend Fosco? A pleasant perfume, good fruit and ripe berry is featured in this deep purple wine from Piemonte.
