March 6 Tasting Notes
Hope everyone is doing well. This week we’ve got a pair of California wines for your enjoyment at our Thursday tasting (4-7). I’ve included the menu for the Avenue 805 dinner March 11th; tickets are still available (maybe 15 spots left?) though the restaurant, 353.2505 or avenue805@comcast.net
Help us do a little Spring cleaning… during the tasting and Saturday we’ll have some special gems pricing so we can make room for Spring selections next week.
The Menu
2004 Renwood Old Vine Zinfandel, $16
I’ve fallen in and out of love with this winery over the years, and was reluctant look back into the portfolio we strongly supported before the winery was sold. However, a deal price on the Old Vine Zin changed my tune. An interesting evolution of the wine – jammy fruit develops rustic notes, herbs and licorice. Fun for all kinds of food pairing.
2007 Foxglove, Chardonnay $17
A heavy hitter from Varner in the under $20 catalog of Chardonnays; we’ve been eagerly awaiting this new vintage. Look for a fresh, complex Chardonnay that’s zesty – a great window into the heart of this Central Coast powerhouse.

The Breit family of wines has been a staple at Westpark for longer than I can remember. This should be a great event, and certainly a rare treat for those with a sweeter palate!
